Elk River Lutheran Church Endowment Fund

In 2016, through the generosity of the Patten Family, the Elk River Lutheran Church Endowment Fund was established. The Elk River Lutheran Church Endowment Fund provides ERLC members and friends with the opportunity to make charitable gifts to ERLC and to have the earnings from those gifts fund future donations for scholarships, community outreach, and ELCA mission work.

How is the fund administered?

The fund is administered by a committee of five ERLC members elected by the congregation. The Endowment Committee monitors the fund assets, provides matching grants, reviews applications, identifies needs, and makes recommendations to the ERLC Council for fund income dispersal. 

How can I participate?

Gifts to the Elk River Lutheran Church Mission Endowment Fund of any size are welcome.  Giving through the Mission Endowment Fund is especially appropriate for memorials, bequests, and gratitude giving. Consider designating the ERLC Mission Endowment Fund in your will or as a beneficiary of an IRA or 401K, or a life insurance policy.  All gifts are charitable contributions and may have tax benefits.

How is the income used?

Elk River Lutheran Church Mission Endowment Fund Mission Statement:
To support the ministries of Elk River Lutheran Church that reflect love for family, neighbor and god’s work  locally, nationally, and worldwide. 
Gifts to the Mission Endowment Fund remain in the fund. The growth from interest, dividends, and capital gains 
is used to support ministries and outreach that align with our mission.
  • Elk River Lutheran Church programming and ministry (e.g.: CYF outreach events, camp scholarships)
  • Minneapolis Area Synod (e.g.: Companion synod in Nigeria)
  • ELCA ministries (e.g.: ELCA World Hunger, Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Disaster Response, missionary sponsorships, support of new congregations)
  • Specialized Ministries (e.g.: CAER, Open Doors, Lutheran Social Services of MN)
