About ERLCElk River Lutheran Church is a new church located in a remodeled bank building on the Mississippi River in downtown Elk River. We are a forward-thinking congregation made up of people of all ages. Our mission is: Trusting in God’s grace, an accepting, joyful community, serving God and neighbor. Each week we have two vibrant Sunday morning worship services. The first, at 8:15am, is a traditional Lutheran service that follows liturgical settings from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) hymnal. Our 10:30am contemporary service has music led by our worship band and maintains many key elements of Lutheran worship.
We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and celebrate the work we’re able to do together as a denomination (to learn more about the ELCA visit www.elca.org). We welcome all people and as an Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation that welcome extends to the GLBTQ community. There are many opportunities to participate and volunteer within the ministries of this church, but first and foremost, we hope you’ll join us for worship some Sunday morning. |
A history of ERLCElk River Lutheran Church has a brief, but busy history. We have worshiped in four locations with four different pastors (two of whom came as temporary leaders while we searched for our current pastor).
In December of 2009 a group of approximately 100 people, who would ultimately become Elk River Lutheran Church, gathered for their first worship service. This group of people were committed to forming an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) congregation in Elk River to preach a message of God’s grace, joy, and acceptance. As we experienced rapid growth, we called Pastor Cynthia (Cyndi) Ganzkow-Wold and relocated from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Elk River, to Lincoln Elementary School, to a store front (lovingly referred to as Unit 5), before finally moving to 729 Main St NW, the former site of First National Bank of Elk River. Pastor Nathan Mugaas, our current pastor, came in the fall of 2016. We continue to be committed to our mission: Trusting in God’s grace, an accepting, joyful community, serving God and neighbor. We would love to have you join us. |
